In April, we had the blessing of taking a sweet road trip to Mammoth, CA (who knew CA was so cool)! Our road trip buddies were Scott, Melissa, Madison, Kale, Avery, and Chloe Burns and Hannah Hinton. The highlights include: beautiful scenery, fish hatcheries (Burns’ childhood memories), cool lakes, coldness, beef jerky from Meadow Farms in Bishop, Schatt’s bakery in Bishop, the Incredibles video game, sleeping in, great food, and best of all…great friends (pardon the cheese). We drove a lot…to various wonderful lakes of Scott’s yester-year memories…but it was well worth it. We packed in the car like sardines and were busting out like a can of biscuits. We never actually saw a mammoth…although I probably ate enough to feed one.

Our friend, Christi Ng, sent us this info. about a free CD that Sovereign Grace Music is offering until 8pm tomorrow (4-15) night. I downloaded it…its really good, and would be worth paying for. Here’s the information that Christi sent…

Here are the instructions for getting a free download version of our latest album, Come Weary Saints. You’ve got until 8pm tomorrow – a little more than 24 hours. After that point the code will be automatically inactivated.

First, we have one request. One way you can help us is to tell one of your facebook friends about Sovereign Grace Music and to encourage them to become a fan.

OK, here’s the link to the download page on Sovereign Grace’s store.

Here’s what you do:

1. Hit the “add to cart” button

2. Click on “Checkout”

3. If you’re a former customer, you know what to do. If this is your first time ordering from us you’ll need to fill out a few fields of information then click on “Create Account.”

4. Shipping step: Enter your address then click “Continue.”

5. Now you can enter the following code in the “Add a Promotional Code” field: SGMFAN

6. Press the gray button to the right of the code field. You’ll then see that you’re getting this for free.

7. Press the “Place Order” button.

8. Then press the “download” button and then again, and that’s it.

We know this a lot of steps but it only takes a few minutes and we hope you’ll feel it’s worth it.

Again, we’re doing this to say “thank you” for being a facebook fan. We want to help provide the church with songs that are filled with biblical truth and gospel-saturated passion.

Beth and I had the opportunity to get away for the weekend (Fri to Mon) and spend time “vacationing”. It was a great, much needed, relaxing time together in a beautiful place. We had lots of time to talk and laugh over some pretty amazing meals and in some beautiful areas.

It pretty much came down to either spending some quality time in beautiful Palmdale or Newport Beach. It was a hard decision, but we had to choose Newport.

Here’s the photo pictage… to see all the pictures go to:

***Disclaimer… One of the coolest things was being able, thanks to a generous gift from family, to go and eat somewhere fun and unique for almost every meal. These times were great because we were able to sit in great restaurants and talk over some great grub. Because of this, many of the pictures are of us eating food, us eating desert, or the food itself. If we look a little chunky, its because Beth is pregnant and because I was usually wearing a fanny pack under my shirts.

Here’s the view from Balboa pier the first night with a full moon.

Dinner at the Newport Beach Brewing Company

Here’s Beth and I on the main street on Balboa Island.

Some amazing carnitas tacos from a great taco shop on Balboa.

And how ’bout those world famous chocolate covered frozen bananas on Balboa Island!

The last day we went to a restaurant in Laguna Beach called “The Cliffs”. It literally was on a cliff overlooking the ocean. We got there about 30 minutes before sunset and got to watch an amazing sunset. Here is the view from out table.

And the food there was amazing too. I got the macadamia crusted mahi-mahi and Beth got the mango salsa halibut.

Sunset view

Our room had a huge balcony with a ginormous opening and an amazing view. Got to enjoy coffee and danishes here in the morning.

Here’s the view of the Newport Beach Back Bay from the balcony…

Every so often we get special visitors at our home. They don’t come down the chimney, they don’t leave quarters under our pillows, and they don’t even hide Easter eggs all over the place. No…instead these special visitors leave 40 rolls of that which we so depend on every single day…double-layered, quilted, ultra-soft charmin…Toilet Paper. Unfortunately they did not leave it in its packaging on the step with a bow around the box for future use. Instead, it was beautifully unraveled all over our yard, trees, cars, and driveway (thankfully they didn’t go for the roof…that would have been a pain). What a gift! We definitely are feeling the love at the Flower home. I mean, I was really hoping that I would get to spend an hour outside on Saturday morning picking wet toilet paper out of the grass and peeling it off the cars. Thankfully, it worked out that my dreams came true and this is how I spent the first hour of Saturday morning.

Actually, we do feel the love. I think we would be doing something wrong in ministry if we never got Tee-pee’d. Also, it allowed me to meet my neighbor, Bob. We have been chumps and had not yet really met our neighbor on our left hand side. He came outside when I was picking up and said…”I know how you feel, I was a Jr. High principle for a while.” Enough said. Amazingly, Bob and his wife have been attending our church for a few months now (the joys of a growing church…you meet people who have being going there for a year and you’ve never seen them before). Hopefully, we’ll get to know them better in the future.

Here’s the aftermath (unfortunately, I didn’t have the foresight to take a picture of the amazing job done).

Family and Friends,

We are excited to tell all of you that “We’re Having a Baby!!!” Sorry we haven’t been able to call or tell all of you in person…but there’s just too many of you! Beth is 7 weeks pregnant and we had our first doctor’s apointment today. We even got to see the heartbeat. Please be praying for both Beth and the baby…for health, not too much sickness, and growth (mostly for the baby, not for Beth). We are so thankful to God for this blessing. We will keep you posted in the months to come.

We love you all,

Ken and Beth…and baby.

Girls (at least most) are seriously missing out…growing and shaving facial hair is great! Since early November I have been sporting my Christmas beard. Recently, my desire has been growing to be rid of this grizzly and often itchy facial feature. Finally, last night, I decided to make a change…it took me a little while to figure out what I wanted to do.

This past weekend, we got to have Maddie, Kale, Avery, and Auggie over for pizza and a movie. We watched Rattatouille…a sweet new movie about a chef Rat…it was totally unrealistic, though. I really don’t think that people in Paris would speak English. Other than that, it was really well done and true to the real-life story.

The kids came over in their sweet pj’s and we had a great time! Here is a photo-montage of the evening…

The cutest cousins in the world…

Our friends, the Martins, had a great Christmas sweater party and ginger-bread house making competition. The conversation flowed like wine and the good times flocked like the salmon of Capistrano! Here are some of the highlights.

Beth and Myself in our sweet Christmas sweaters…sorry about the glazed look on my face.

Brandon, Shannon, and Owen Capuano…Brandon, an old lady called and she wants her sweater back.

Melissa and Hannah in their glittery sweaters…Hannah actually won the competition.

Beth, Aubrey, Melissa, and Beth spreading the Christmas cheer.

And now…the gingerbread houses!

Aubrey made a S’more-Gingerbread Palace

Donovan did this one in honor of his brother-in-law, Donnie.

Hannah gave us an idea of what actually goes on inside a gingerbread home…

Scott crafted his out of home-made gingerbread logs for a nice rustic look. Melissa’s house collapsed after hours of intense labor and no pictures were taken in time.

Ken did a candy version of Virginia Tech’s Lane Stadium

And the Winner Was: Beth’s Candyland Camp Ground…notice the RV on the right and the sweet gum tent.

Our friend, John Spring, came on down to Corona for some sweet hang-time. Here’s a picture of the guys at Bass Pro Shops…the coolest store in Southern California.

Hannah making new friends…

And Virginia Tech won the ACC championship, beating Boston College! A great reason to bust out the polyester baseball jersey!

Kale loaded the tree on top himself…Christmas Tree hunting at Target!

The Flowers, Blakeys, Nguyens, and Burns’ kids bundled up to go deep into the forest of Target to find the perfect Christmas trees.

Beth and I have been busy between Thanksgiving and now…prepare yourself for the flurry of posts and pictures!

We love Christmas!
